Submission Guidelines

Sherwood Talent Show
Event date: Thursday March 26, 2026
Please have all required information ready before filling out the online Video Submission Form on our website :1. All students in tryouts first and last names
2. All student’s teacher and all student’s grade levels
3. All students parent/guardian’s email addresses
4. Description of act
5. Any props needed (which must be provided)
6. Song information (title, artist, digital copy of song for upload)
Please note the following guidelines for all Talent Show Acts:Acts must be no more than 2 minutes:
The goal is to be able to involve as many acts/kids in the show as possible. The exception to this rule is if you have 8 kids or more in your act. Then you can contact me for a new time limit.
Choose Appropriate Content:
Music, dialogue, dance moves, costumes, etc. must be appropriate for all audiences. This not only includes making sure you do not have explicit lyrics but also that subject matter in a song is appropriate. If you try out with questionable content, you’ll be required to choose another song which will affect your entire act. Please ensure the lyrics are clean and appropriate for all ages.
Be Prepared during video submissions:
We will have judges from the community judging auditions.
Submit your video (no longer than 2 minutes, max) of a rehearsed act at our website: SherwoodTalentShow.com and fill out all the required information on the submission form. Having a costume ahead of time is not required but if you already own what you are planning to wear, then wear it. You can also just coordinate for the day with your friends.Be Respectful:
It takes courage to stand in front of people and perform. Each act that takes the stage deserves your respect and support. Please listen quietly when another act is performing and applaud for them when they finish.
One Act per Student:
The goal of the show is to involve as many students as possible so each student may try out for one act. Choose your favorite talent or be creative in figuring out how to combine your talents into one act.
Sing with Karaoke music:
- To give each singer the best opportunity to be heard you must sing with the Karaoke version of a song if you are using music. It is hard to be evaluated fairly if you are competing with Taylor Swift.
- To make this accessible to everyone you can request a karaoke version of your song when you sign up if you don’t have one already. The Talent Show Committee will email you with a karaoke version.
Be Creative:
Remember the best show is composed of a
variety of acts so think about what you may have to contribute. If you are going to use music for your act, try to find something unique. If you choose the most popular song, you may be competing for a spot with other acts using that same song or you may be asked to combine your act with others using the same song or to change it. If your heart is set on a popular song, consider finding a big group that will join you.
Have Fun:
It can be scary to stand up on stage and perform. If you mess up or forget your lines, do your best to keep going. In the actual show you can't start over. If you are having fun and smiling it makes your act memorable and the audience won't care that you messed up.
Mandatory Attendance
You must attend your scheduled rehearsal dates, dress rehearsal and both performances (Assembly and Evening Show) if you are offered a place in the show. This is our only opportunity to work out any kinks and ensure everything is running smoothly before the show.

Music Track Submission Guidelines

Important note:
Due to copyright law and technical safety, we are not accepting YouTube links for song tracks.
If you are unable to purchase or obtain the song you need, the Talent Show Committee will help get the songs for you. Simply contact us that you need help getting the song and the song information.1. Please submit your music in MP3 format.2. Use Amazon to purchase Songs, Instrumentals and Karaoke versions of songs to submit.3. Do not use songs downloaded from I-Tunes, they are usable by purchaser only.4. If your song is on a CD and you have no way to download tracks to MP3 format (most new
computers do not play CD’s), you can drop the CD off in the office and we will do that for you.
5. You can submit your song on a memory stick by dropping it off at the office.6. Do not submit a YouTube link for your song, we are not accepting YouTube links this year. It is illegal for us to convert those to MP3 due to copyright laws and most online convertors will install a virus on your computer.7. When submitting your track please indicate the time stamp of where you would like track to start and end for your performance, we will fade out the songs this year.8. If you create your own track with Garage Band or other sound apps feel free to start and end your song as you would like for your performance, it can be a cold ending versus a fade out.9. To maintain the excitement of our performances, we request that songs are only performed once during the show. Songs will be approved on a first-come, first-served basis. If your chosen song has already been selected by another act, the committee will gladly assist you in choosing an alternative.Let us know any questions, need help or advice on your track, have fun!
